Many names, ranging anywhere from an encampment to a megalopolis.

Depending upon the size, either neighborhood or community.

lots of possibilities depending on what aspects of the region you wish to emphasize (you know, town, city, suburb, rural, etc), but I suppose an inhabited area would be the most generic. Not an uninhabited area, but one that is inhabited by people.
