Could we attach motors to islands and continents, then drive them around?

If we padded all of the coastlines, we could play an interesting version of bumper cars, only with landmasses, for a friendly competition in a future olympics.

Most islands are not free-floating, they are the tops of mountains that have their bases in the ocean floor.

No, of course not. Continents and more specifically, tectonic plates, are far more massive than to be pushed around by a motor. But I encourage you to go ahead and try it.

Sure - in a dream anything is possible - you may even be able to do this when "gorked out" on poisonous mushrooms.

Well, I'm all for the idea...........sounds like a hoot...............but, sadly..........noooooo, that's not quite possible. Think of land masses, as the tops of large underwater mountains, sticking out of the water. You can't drive them around.

That would be fun, but plate tectonics says no.
