Should there be an apostrophe in the following sentence?: ''Generally, new infants sleep between feeds'' I think there should be an apostrophe in the word 'infants'. Many thanks

No, there shouldn't. The word 'infants' is a plain ordinary regular standard plural. Plain ordinary plurals are formed by adding -s. One cat, five cats. One house, five houses. One infant, five infants.

No apostrophe is needed after infants.

Oh, you think that, do you? Then you're a moron. There is no apostrophe in the plural noun "infants."

No, there is no need for an apostrophe.

there is no purpose to an apostrophe there. infants is a plural, and they are not being spoken as "owners" of something (not a possessive). no contraction, no possessive = no apostrophe.

No If you put an apostrophe there, what are you saying that the infant owns? The phrase "infant's sleep" (the sleep of infants) doesn't make sense in that sentence

No. "Infants" is plural, not possessive.

    that is correct

    yes

No...as it does not show possession...it's only a plural noun. Infants' hair is curly....the hair of infants....does need an apostrophe.
