No Diamonds are configurations of Carbon---you will either destroy the configuration that makes it a diamond, or you will BURN it up--Carbon does not melt.

NO, DIAMOND TURNS INTO BLACK CARBON UNDER FLAMABLE HIGH. DIAMOND IS MADE WITH CARBON UNDER EXTREMENLY HIGH PRESSURE.

You needn't melt diamonds. They are simply a crystal form of carbon. Cabon can be compressed into cubic zirconium crystals under very intense pressure and heat.
