It is just the way it is, and maybe the way it always was. Women tend to equate height with good looks. It is how it is.

they want a protector. women are historically the homemakers and men are the hunters and gatherers. men are built more rugged to withstand all sorts of things. it is genetic, not misogynistic.

Has nothing to do with all that it's just a matter of attraction. It seem more masculine and a woman feels more protected with a taller guy. When some big tall guy is coming on just a little to strong you do not want to send pygmy to handle him.
