Which sentence is correct?

A. Swords and shields stolen, the soldiers ran back to their country the next day. B. Their swords and shields stolen, the soldiers ran back to their country the next day. Do I need the "their" before "swords"? Thanks!

    'A' is correct

'Their' is the preferred way, but unless you are being scored on an exam, the first way will fly. This would be accepted in a work of fiction, today, without much criticism.

    No, it's optional.

"A" sounds fine. You don't need to use the world 'their' in that sentence twice.

    B is correct.

"Their" is unnecessary because, from the context, it is obvious the swords and shields are theirs.
