Why won't my mom not let me take birth control?

I'm 16 and my doctor told my mom that since I have really bad cramps and attitude when I am on my period she could prescribe birth control to help , I think it's fine but my mom doesn't think like me, WHY?

She afraid you will have sex. In California you do not need parents concent to get B. C. Doctors have been using BC for your condition for years.

She said no because of some fears. As soon as you are 18, which is less than 2 years, you can get them yourself.

Because it is "birth control"... If it was called hormone therapy.. Or hormonal stabalizers or anything else, shed probably be fine with it.

Who do you think knows your mom better, us or you? How do you expect us to know what your mom's reasons are? Ask her.

Don't know. The pill CAN help the massive cramping. Maybe sit down and ask her why. Tell her you're not contemplating having sex just because the pills are there.
