No, it's not a problem. You must rest for a day after the procedure, keeping the head-end of the bed down with the leg end elevated in order to allow normalcy to be restored after the lumbar puncture.

Yes you will be awake. You will not be high but they may give you something to relax you.

It will, however, hurt like hell. Just a little something to look forward to while you wait. Also, if you wiggle around while the needle is in there, you can end up paralyzed for the rest of your life. Another point they don't talk about a lot.
