i'm not sure why i'm worrying about it, it didn't happen in 2000 and it shouldn't happen in 2038, right? even if it were possible the government would be on top of it.

In theory, yes, but it will be in 2034 because the Gregorian Calendar is inaccurate. By the time it is 2038, the danger will have passed, and everyone will have to find something else to worry about.
