Help with simplifying questions, please?

When simplified 2x+9-4a+4 = 2x-4a+13 My answer was 2x + 13 - 4a. My question is, why in the correct answer must the 13 be at the end? How do you simplify 6(x+y)+2(2x+y)?

Your answer to the first question was fine. It is more conventional to put constants at the end, but there's nothing WRONG with 2x + 13 - 4a. Next question: 6x + 6y + 4x + 2y = 10x + 8y.
