How many times do I have to pay for college tuition?

I heard that you can pay college tuition by year or semester. I don’t know how many semester are there in a year of college. So if I pay in full by year, does that mean throughout college I will have to pay 4 times bc there are 4 years of college?

Most universities have two semesters. You pay in full for the semester before it starts. Some universities allow monthly payments.
