A garden hose can fill a hot tub in 300 minutes, whereas the drain on a hot tub can empty it in 700 minutes. If the drain is accidentally left open, how long will it take to fill the tub?

In each minute, the fraction of the tub that is filled is 1/300 - 1/700 = 4/2100 = 1/525. So the tub fills in 525 minutes = 8 hours, 45 minutes.
