Why do they have so many steel electrical du transmission poles all over the State of Texas everywhere in Texas you go?

    Because Texans didn't like people in Arkansas poking fun at them for allowing their power lines to lay on the ground and causing so many short circuits in their cross country power distribution system.

    They have a longer life span, can hold more strands of wiring and tend to be used for main feeder lines and not local branches. Finally the use of creosote as a wood preservative for the wooden poles has been discontinued because it is a carcinogen

    Texas has very high winds, It is in Tornado Alley.

    Because Texas has strong wind weather, steel pole can handle more bending strength than cheap wood pole.

    Probably because they found a cheap source of steel outside the US (I am assuming this is a "before Tariff" question.
