Can you just ask for a copy of your prescription (is that what it's called?) at your own optometrists and just take it to any other glasses store so they can also get the right lenses for the frames you choose?

Hi, Yes, Of course. But, you have to have your Prescription from your Optometrist. You take that to the Eyeglass Store. Good Luck

It is law, they have to give you your prescription. You can go to any optician after that .

You can even use your perscripttion on line. Then go to a store and give them a sob story and they will probably make the adjustments for free.

That is exactly what you do, but be aware, some do not like to give them out. They may charge for them or give you greif, a run around about it. Some take it personally and will never treat you again.

Yes but there is a time frame. The prescription is valid only for a year for adults in my state. If it has expired, you'll need a new exam.

Yes, unless the store only accepts their own prescriptions. Warby Parker for instance has no optometrist so only deals in the glasses.
