On a manual typewriter you leave two spaces. On a computer you leave one; the computer automatically leaves the right amount of space.

Unless otherwise indicated, as in a particular assignment, there should be two spaces between sentences in order to follow proper guidelines.

Double space used to be the common practice. Easier on the eyes and so much like that. However, I think the times have changed. Either is acceptable I believe. Whichever you choose, stick to it and stay consistent.
