Why women are so competitive in beauty?

Not all women like this, but it a lot these days. Who has the best body, teeth, money, etc. But why? I was like that then I realize that i can never be number 1, and most likely men want someone smart. But why do women get so competitive?

I don't know. I've never felt the need to compete with other women for anything.
