The tampon tax is the same sales tax that applies to all other taxable products. Feminists want tampons to be exempt from sales tax.

At the moment, feminine hygiene products are taxed as luxury goods rather than medical necessities. I used to have to spend £10 every three weeks - and when someone may well be living on a shoestring or on benefits, it's totally unreasonable.

The idea is that the basic necessities of life: food, feminine hygiene, beer, drumsticks, etc. should not be subject to taxation.
