Why do some people say that it's bad to stretch before working out or taking exercise?

Cold muscles can be injured with overly-aggressive stretching. Best: some mild exercise before stretching, to warm up the muscles. Then, you can stretch, and dive right in to your full workout.

Because it has been proven to impair performance. Jumping jacks and moving your body around to loosen up has much better gains.

They must be insane. Stretching is GOOD before a workout... VERY VERY VERY good.
