Why do women snitch on men?

there's all these stories out there of women warning other women what their partner is up to. "i saw him sucking on another woman's neck at the bar the other night" .. why snitch for? are women not to be trusted with anything?

If somebody of EITHER gender doesn't want such " word " getting around, why aren't they more faithful to their partner? Just a thought ..
