Why do all metabolic reactions release heat, such as ATP hydrolysis?

    Metabolic reactions involve the transfer of energy. This is NEVER 100% efficient. There is always some energy that is lost and unavailable to do work. This lost energy is called heat. That is reason heat is always released.
