Is it a fact that, in the northern hemisphere water goes down the plug anti-clockwise and in the southern hemisphere clockwise?

Even objects as large as a Tornado will occasionally rotate the "wrong way", against the Coriolis effect. Hurricanes, however, are big enough that they always spin in response to the Coriolis effect.

No, it is not true.

No, it's not true. Toilets, sinks and bathtub drains are way too small to exhibit the Coriolis effect.

No == not true. I live in the Southern Hemisphere and the water in my sink goes straight down. It all has to do with the design of the bowl. What does happen is that Cyclones rotate Clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.
