I have schizophrenia, depression, anxiety disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome and a mild learning disorder, all of which are under control but I’m wondering if a lot of employers get scared of people with mental illnesses and disorders?

Other people who answered are wrong and ignorant. I'm also on the Autism Spectrum, have depression and anxiety and NVLD. An employer cannot refuse to hire you because of disability. Period. Your diagnoses are private. Period.

if you can do the work i suppose and have your illnesses under control.

I think yes they do? Do you have to mention it? A girl I work with has bipolar and depression and she never mentioned it when she applied.

employers dont' want people who are not going to do the work and cause problems.
