    i think expiry date relates to half life of the medicine. as long as the medicine is in the original blister pack or such it should fine to use. loose tablets and liquids in a open bottle may not that good as the originals.

    most meds you can keep up to one year past the expiration date, but there are exceptions. Tetracycline and any liquid meds can be dangerous past the date. But don't take my word, check your pharmacist.

    keep it in a dark climate controlled (ac) environment in a ziplock bag ... best you can do imo .. even then its not going to last forever ..
