What would you need in order to clone something?

People are probably still considered unethical, but what about animals? Let's say...a dog? What would you need to clone a dog? Presumably some form of DNA sample, right? Would a Ziploc bag full of hairs do? Or teeth? Claw shavings? A strip of skin? Any of the above, or perhaps something else?

The way I mean is like to make a perfect human without like test tube babies and stuff. SO basically breeding with perfect external conditions and with both parents each time having like no illnesses and being in excellent condition, eyesight, reflexes, speed, intelligence and so on.
