If the earth is a spinning globe, can a bird get to the other side of the world by flying in place for 12 hours?

No. After centuries of rotation the atmosphere is rotating along with the earth so the bird "flying in place" would be carried along with it.

No, and only humming birds can hover in place ( I think) and they are still moving with Earth's rotation. Earth is spinning 1040 miles hour ONLY AT THE EQUATOR,. So many people get this wrong. The speed of rotation is latitude dependent..
