    It’s rare but still practiced in some countries. It’s usually only administered if a severely unwell or difficult patient is unresponsive to any other treatment and is repeatedly returning to the unit or is not able to leave. You have to sign a consent form for it to happen. It is also occasionally used to treat healthier patients whom can not get better with conventional means or with self management.
