Hi, I am an athlete that got a college scholarship for basketball. My question is if I can still work and earn if I am on a scholarship?

That question should be asked of the source of the scholarship, not us. We don't know the source or particulars of your scholarship.

Generally, yes, you could work - but keep in mind that between the requirements of your academic schedule and your athletic schedule you may have very little time to work! Check with your school to see if there are restrictions on your ability to work.

Every scholarship has its own requirements, so you would have to ask the donor of your particular award. In general, most scholarships don't specify one way or the other whether the student can work. However, athletic scholarships usually do require you to participate extensively in practices, games, promotional activities, etc. and sometimes there are other requirements such as having a particular sleep or workout schedule. In addition, you'll probably have to maintain a certain course load and GPA. Even if you had enough free time to devote to a job, you might find it difficult to find a one with a schedule that would accommodate your school and sports responsibilities.
