What's an innocent tone?

If someone says something "innocently", what tone do they say it in? Is it another word for polite tone?

It means saying something innocently that is interpreted in a wrong or bad way.

It means mildly or without great confidence. It may or may not be notably polite.

not the same as polite. more the idea of "not knowing the import of what is in the words". More like naive than polite. Polite is purposeful avoidance of offense. Innocence is lack of intended offense from lack of awareness that offense is possible.
