Is it safe/ok for me to take someone else's penicillin for swollen tonsils?

I had a mild cold about 6 days ago, it wasnt bad enough that I needed to go to the doctor(no insurance I'm afraid) but my tonsils did get fairly swollen from it. The cold went away but my tonsils remained swollen and have made it painful and difficult to swallow. I figured I could just wait it out and would go...
