Is this correct use of the word "signal"?

I would like a response from the company that signals they have understood my proposal.

It's certainly not wrong, but it's a little unexpected in this context. There are several alternatives, such as 'shows', 'confirms' or 'acknowledges'.

I think I would use "confirms". Signal works though.

It is not "incorrect" but it would be an unusual use of "signal".

A signal conveys an instruction or warning so is not correct in your context.

You could also say "let's me know" I would like a response from the company that let's me know they have understood my proposal.

It's okay but not ideal. 'acknowledges' would flow better.
