I think that you'd have to wear a lot of flesh off the bottoms of your feet before things on the tops of the feet would "fall off".

Your toenails should not simply fall off not matter how far you walk. If as a result of walking you caused some trauma to a toenail it may fall off, but would depend on what the trauma did to the nail.
