Does Time depend on Matter?
4 answers
How do we know that time exists in its own right? That we don't just measure the movements of matter, the effects of gravity and speed on it, down to the component parts of atoms, and then interpret the results as something we call time?

Time is a coordinate just like the x, y, z coordinates of space. Time and space are intertwined in a dimensional spacetime.

Time does not have existence, any nor than length, width, depth. They are all ways of specifying the location of an object or event - essentially, a coordinate axis. They are neither events nor objects in themselves.
