By fraction I mean "x/y", I don't know if it is the correct English term. But it is a rational number, so it should be possible to make, right?

Let x = 2.99999999…….. Then 10x = 29.9999999…….. Substrate x from 10x : 10x - x = 29.9999999…….. - 2.99999999…….. 9x = 27 x = 3 2.99999999…….. = 3 (or 3/1)

By 2.(9) do you mean 9 repeating? 2.99999....? That is equal to 3. In fraction form, 3/1.

2.9? There’s an infinite answer unless you mean the reduced form. Reduced: 2.9 = 2 9/10 = (10*2 + 9)/10 = 29/10 But 29/10 = 58/20 = 57/30 = 116/40 = ...
