Why do people from the USA, when writing a date, put the month first, then the day and finally the year?

Most countries write day, month, year.

That is how they learned to do it since they were a kid. I wonder what other countries write - month, day then year?

You write the date as June 5, 2018 for example. Month/Day/Year is just the same format.

Because we're American Writing it Year - Mounth - Day, would make the most sense when you think about it.
