Math problem about ratios?

1 answer

Assume P varies directly as Q and inversely as the square of T. If P=2 when Q=12 and T=4, what is the value of Q when P=8 and T=1?

    P varies directly as Q & inversely as T^2=> P=kQ/T^2, where k=the constant of variation. P=2, Q=12 & T=4 => 2=12k/16 => k=8/3 => P=8Q/(3T^2) P=8 & T=1 => 8=8Q/3 => Q=3
