How bad is a wreck if someone has to be life flighted to the hospital?

my boyfriends mom just texted me and said that he got in a wreck and had to be life flighted to the hospital and i don't know how worried i should be

Very. It's one thing to be taken out in an ambulance but to bring a chopper in?? Not good :/
