Any of these could apply: Genius Gifted Interested Educated Taught Mentored Tutored Question: does he play a musical instrument? Math and music at a young age seem to change the brain and make both easier.

No he's not, algebra is just an other language and the young are very good at learning languages

Is he learning it on his own initiative or is his whole class learning it? If he enjoys maths, encourage him.
