Is the Golden Ratio the same thing as Pi? How do they differ?

No, the golden ration is not pi. It is sometimes phi.

For simplicity, if a rectangle has length=x & width=y, then x:y=1.618 is called the golden ratio. pi=the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter =2(pi)r/(2r) =3.141592... => pi-1.618=1.52359265... is the difference.
