Why is the word "the" so overused. Some words are just integral parts into having a sentence make logical sense.

Because it has too many meanings. Dutch for instance distinguishes singular from plural, with from without emphasis, informal from formal..and has a non-personal pronoun sort of similar to "one" English itself used to distinguish subject from object
