Why do doctors advice you to continue taking paracetamol even after the fever is cured?

My doctor told me to continue it for two more days.

    I don't know. I wouldn't advise this.

    The fever is a symptom, if the fever is gone that doesn't mean the infection is over.

    paracetamol has the effect of lowering fever and masking pain. It has no other function with an illness. so once the fever is over, it will do no good. However, the paracetamol may be masking the fever and stopping it will allow the fever to return.

    A lot of the time, stopping the intake of meds before the disease is fully cured just because symptoms disappeared will cause it to bounce back. They want the disease to be eradicated for sure

    You mean "advise", not 'advice'. That would be a good question for your doctor.

    You're still prone to the fever until the active bacteria or viruses are really gone.
