Are professors notified at the beginning of a semester about students that have a disability (i.e. the inability to speak)?

    You have to make accommodations with the school

    Maybe, maybe not. Often they just get a printout of names of those registered for the course.

    Usually I'm notified of what accommodations a student needs in my class, but not why they need them.
