Why is the sky dark at night?

Not excatly completely. The night sky fluoresce as a very dark blue ;hence its not really Black.

Because the Sun is not in it, and space is not infinite in time, or space and it is expanding.

Dark is relative. Most of the sky is darker than the bright things like stars and none of them are bright enough to illuminate the atmosphere enough for you to see it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luminous_i...

The Sun is on the opposite side of the Sun than you are if you are seeing a night sky.

It's blindingly obvious. The Sun has set so there is no light from it to drown out anything else. So everything else becomes visible.

The Side of the Earth you are on at night is facing away from the sun. your in shadow. But the Sky is not dark. There are Stars, planets and the moon.

Because when you are somewhere on Earth that is dark you are in a place where light from the Sun is not striking the Earth. As the atmosphere is colourless you only see the darkness of space.

Because the sun is below the horizon. In fact, it's so far below, that the atmosphere is not lit up. Starlight isn't enough to do the job.

Because the earth is shading the sun. And, there is no atmosphere in space to reflect the sunlight when we are on the dark side of earth.
